Sri Lankan adventure tourism company Rapid Adventures has won the award for Leading Promotional Campaign at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2026, held at Barceló Nasandhura in Malé, Maldives.
This year’s ceremony marked the 10th edition of SATA, the regional awards programme that recognises excellence in travel, tourism and hospitality across Sri Lanka, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Hotels, airlines, travel agents and tourism brands from all six countries competed in this year’s edition, which drew close to a thousand nominations.
Rapid Adventures Founder and CEO Chathuranga Madurawala travelled to Malé to accept the award on behalf of the company.
“For us, this award is about Sri Lanka more than anything else,” Madurawala said. “Our team has worked hard to show people that this island has so much more to offer than beaches and cultural sites. White water rafting in Kitulgala, hiking in Knuckles, villages like Meemure that most people have never heard of. To be recognised for telling that story at a regional level, alongside some of the biggest names in South Asian tourism, means a lot to all of us.”
He also thanked the company’s partners and guides across the island. “Most of our guides are local people from the areas we operate in. Every booking we take supports a village somewhere. This award belongs to them as much as it belongs to us.”
This is not the first time Rapid Adventures has been recognised by SATA. The company won Leading Adventure Service Provider in 2022, and Leading Destination Promoter in both 2023 and 2024. It has also been named Sri Lanka’s Most Popular Travel and Tourism Website at the BestWeb.lk awards for three consecutive years.
Sri Lanka had a strong night overall at SATA 2026, with the country named Leading Wellness Destination in the Visitors’ Choice category, and several Sri Lankan hotels and travel companies picking up awards.
Based in Negombo, Rapid Adventures offers adventure experiences, corporate outbound training programmes, stays and rentals across Sri Lanka, working with a network of more than 20 partners and over 20 certified guides and instructors. The company has served more than 25,000 adventurers to date.
