This is the UFC 333 live blog for Lone’er Kavanagh vs. Ramazan Temirov, the main card flyweight bout Saturday at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Kavanagh currently stands at No. 8 at 125 pounds in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, with Temirov on the rise at No. 12.
It hasn’t been an easy road for Kavanagh (10-2), a top prospect out of the Cage Warriors promotion who has already faced some of the UFC’s toughest flyweight veterans. The 27-year-old shook up the rankings with a superb five-round decision win over two-time UFC champion Brandon Moreno, but that victory is sandwiched between a knockout loss to Charles Johnson and a submission loss to Brandon Royval in his most recent outing. He now fights to hold on to his top 10 spot.
Temirov (20-3) is coming off of a powerful first-round knockout over one-time title challenger Steve Erceg this past July. He improved to 3-0 in the UFC, including a decision win over Johnson and another first-round finish over C.J. Vergara in his first octagon outing.

Post fight
Kavanagh thanks his team for getting him ready for such a fantastic victory, learning from previous mistakes by keeping his hands up in exchanges like that. It’s clearly worked.
And Kavanagh made no mistake what he wants next in the UFC: “I’m here for that belt.”
