Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 25 October 2026, met with Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, in Doha, Qatar, on the sidelines of his participation in the 9th World Investment Forum (WIF). The meeting took place after the Opening Ceremony of the 9th World Investment Forum. During the meeting, they exchanged views on strengthening ASEAN–Qatar relations following Qatar’s conferment of ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner status in July 2026, including through the development of practical cooperation areas. They also discussed enhancing ASEAN–GCC cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, energy security, food security, and supply-chain resilience, as well as regional and global developments of mutual interest.
