Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston is off to a horrendous start to the 2026 season.
While the entire team has struggled, Johnston has done little to help his case through the first five games. He has barely surpassed 100 receiving yards, hasn't scored a touchdown yet, and is dealing with a chest injury.
With a turnaround nowhere in sight, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has identified Johnston as a potential trade candidate for Los Angeles.
"What about Quentin Johnston? The Chargers' wideout has come up in a few of my recent conversations. The Bolts were firm in the offseason that they wouldn't deal him, but now that Los Angeles is sitting at 0-5, perhaps the timing is right.”
This season alone has been a microcosm of Johnston's career. In four games this season, Johnston has recorded only seven receptions on 18 targets for 108 yards, zero touchdowns and an average of 15.4 yards per reception.
Johnston's career with the Chargers has been underwhelming, to say the least. In 50 games, he's recorded only 151 receptions for 1,985 yards, 18 touchdowns and averages 13.1 yards per reception.
The Chargers picked up his fifth-year option through 2027 (worth about $18 million guaranteed). The organization showed him that it believes in Johnston and his physical upside.
However, a little over a quarter of the season, that looks like a mistake.
Johnston isn't the only player on the team who could be moved before the Nov. 10 trade deadline. Other Chargers who could be traded are Khalil Mack, Donte Jackson, and David Njoku, to name a few.
