Education Ministry inspectors are due at the Belgrade University School of Economics on Friday following allegations that Student List candidate Dejan Soskic was illegally appointed a full professor in 2015.
The inspection follows accusations by Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) official Aleksandar Jaksic, who claimed Soskic did not meet the requirements for the appointment and that falsified reports were used in the procedure. Soskic, a former National Bank of Serbia governor and an economist by education, referred questions about his appointment to the competent University of Belgrade bodies.
Dean Zaklina Stojanovic said the selection procedure was transparent, involved more than 100 senior academics across the university, and ended with a unanimous decision. She added that no objections had been received within the set deadline. The allegations come amid the election campaign, with Soskic standing as a candidate on the Student List.
