Nigeria’s Super Falcons have advanced to the third round of the 2028 Olympic women’s football qualifiers after thrashing Comoros 5-0 in the second leg of their tie on Tuesday.
Braces from Uchenna Kanu and Toni Payne, alongside a goal from Christy Ucheibe, secured a 7-0 aggregate victory for the Nigerian side.
The Super Falcons dominated the encounter at the Remo Stars home ground in Ikenne, Ogun State, and took the lead in the 41st minute after Kanu capitalised on a defensive mistake before setting up Payne to score.
Nigeria went into the break with a 1-0 advantage before Kanu doubled the lead in the 58th minute, heading home a delivery from Folashade Ijamilusi.
The Cruz Azul Femenil forward thought she had scored again three minutes later, but her effort from another Ijamilusi cross was ruled out for offside.
Payne restored the momentum in the 63rd minute, completing her brace after Blessing Okpe dribbled past two Comoros defenders and set up the Inter Milan Femeni star to finish.
