The Guardians moved within 2 wins of reaching the World Series after defeating Tampa Bay 3-2 in Game 3 on Thursday. Petey Halpin delivered the biggest hit of the afternoon, launching a go-ahead 2-run home run in the fifth inning. Gavin Williams was outstanding on the mound, striking out 9 batters over 5 innings before Cleveland’s bullpen shut the door. The Guardians will now look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead and move one victory away from the American League pennant.

For the Rays, Game 4 presents an opportunity to even the series and regain some momentum after a frustrating offensive performance. Tampa Bay managed just 3 hits and struck out 13 times in Game 3, with Junior Caminero going down on strikes 4 times. Nick Martinez is scheduled to take the mound against Cleveland’s Shawn Armstrong in a matchup originally scheduled for Friday before being postponed due to rain. First pitch is set for 8:00 PM ET on TBS and truTV.
