Haryana Police, in coordination with the CBI, are finalising modalities to expedite the deportation of fugitive gangster Himanshu Bhau, rival of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, sources said on Saturday.
Bhau, wanted in India in multiple murder and extortion cases, has been detained by the US authorities and is currently in the custody of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Bhau’s tryst with crime began at the age of 17, when he allegedly attempted to murder an adversary. Although arrested, he escaped from a juvenile correctional facility in Hisar in 2020. Since then, he has been involved in a series of organised criminal activities, said a Haryana police official.
Investigators allege that Bhau initially fled to Portugal using forged documents and has since operated his criminal syndicate from overseas. His gang maintains close ties with groups that rival the Bishnoi gang.
Last month, Bhau’s gang claimed responsibility for the murder of gym trainer and owner Vijay Kumar in south Delhi’s Aya Nagar.
