ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to inaugurate the Pak-China Friendship Hospital on October 27, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif likely to lead the inauguration ceremony, ARY News reported.
On the instructions of the Prime Minister, it was decided to name the facility the Pak-China Friendship Hospital.
Sources revealed that the Ministry of National Health Services and the Infectious Disease Isolation Hospital and Treatment Centre (IHITC) had initially decided to name it Margalla Hospital.
Furthermore, the health ministry and the IHITC have now decided to operate it as a general hospital, with the isolation facility being run under a public-private partnership (PPP).
The health ministry had previously signed an agreement with the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) regarding the management of the isolation facility.
The 250-bed hospital was established in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The facility was constructed with financial assistance from the Chinese government, which donated $4 million for the project.
Following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital was deactivated due to operational challenges.
