A team of the Telangana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (TG-Genco) led by its Chairman and Managing Director S. Harish on Monday visited the Singareni Collieries’ Naini coal mine near Chendipada in Angul district of Odisha as part of the steps being taken to improve coal supply from the mine to its 5×800 megawatt Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) in Nalgonda district.
Director (Coal & Logistics) of Genco B. Nagya and officials of Singareni took a look at the mining operations at Naini mine and reviewed the coal supply to the ultra super critical thermal plant under execution. Four units of YTPS are already into generation to meet the growing needs of energy in the State and the remaining one unit is yet to be commissioned.
The Genco management is focusing on improving the Naini coal supply to 16,000 tonnes a day to YTPS to run the power plant at its rated capacity with the quality (G9 grade) coal. The meeting between Genco and Singareni officials discussed availability of railway rakes to improve the coal supplies to YTPS.
Speaking at Naini, Genco CMD S. Harish stated that the quality coal supply from Naini was crucial for power generation at the ultra super critical thermal plant at Dameracherla in Nalgonda district. Improved coal supplies from Naini would help YTPS operate at its rated capacity and meet the energy needs of the State, he noted.
