The cuts span multiple EA-affiliated game studios, with a total of 400 jobs set to go. In a letter to staff seen by Bloomberg, EA executives David Tinson and Cam Weber write that they have “conducted a thorough review of the business over the past few months” and decided on a number of cuts.
Among them is the closure of BioWare, which the studio confirmed in a post on X.
BioWare was acquired by EA in 2007 and is behind several critically acclaimed role-playing game series, including “Mass Effect” and “Dragon Age,” but has failed to meet sales targets in recent years.
EA was recently taken private by a consortium that includes Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund and is burdened with large debts.
