A political mobilisation group supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, has inaugurated its Gombe State chapter and presented 26 vehicles to strengthen its grassroots campaign.
The movement, founded by Niger Delta businessman and security contractor Government Oweizide-Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, was inaugurated Tuesday, with the managing director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Kestin Pondi, representing the founder.
Speaking at the event, Pondi praised Gombe state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his administration’s infrastructure projects, arguing that visible development could boost support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also credited the federal government’s removal of the petrol subsidy on May 29, 2023, with increasing the funds available to state governments for development projects.
However, he stated that the effective use of such resources depended on the commitment and priorities of individual state governors.
“These things will not happen if you, as the governor and chief steward of Gombe state, do not decide to put those monies to good use,” Mr Pondi said.
He singled out road construction and efforts to improve connectivity between communities as examples of projects that could reinforce the administration’s development agenda.
He said the governor’s performance could serve as a persuasive message to voters, reducing the burden on campaigners seeking to convince residents to support the President’s second-term ambition.
“Your Excellency, if every governor is doing what you are doing in Gombe state , we will not be working so hard to campaign because you are the campaign that the people need,” he said.
Mr Pondi said the 26 vehicles would support the movement’s door-to-door mobilisation across the state, enabling its members to reach communities and engage voters, particularly young people.
