KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Saturday expressed concern over delay in formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) in recovery of a missing citizen.
“The missing persons case are extremely serious and sensitive, concerned authorities should take immediate and coordinated steps in the matter of missing persons”, the constitutional bench of the high court observed.
“Disappearance of a dear-one causes extreme mental and psychological distress for the family,” the bench remarked.
The investigation officer submitted his report with regard to formation of a JIT in the constitutional bench. The IO had written letter for the JIT for recovery of Azeem Shaikh, who is reported missing in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police jurisdiction.
The I/O said that no reply received from the concerned competent authorities for letters delivered to them for constitution of a JIT.
The high court bench ordered steps for formation of the JIT without any delay.
The court directed to the focal person of the Sindh home department for prompt implementation of the court’s decision.
The high court bench adjourned further hearing of the case until November 26.
