On Sunday, at the paid DPK camp, Viktor Orbán spoke with laughter about armed rebellion and the violent overthrow of the constitutional order. "This is one of the most serious criminal offences against the state," Prime Minister Péter Magyar commented on Facebook on the Fidesz chairman's Sunday remarks at Lakitelek.
Péter Magyar highlighted that, under the criminal code, anyone who commits an act directly aimed at changing Hungary’s constitutional order by force or by threat of force is punishable for a felony by imprisonment of between five and twenty years, or life imprisonment.
“Under another paragraph of the law, anyone who makes preparations aimed at the violent overthrow of the constitutional order is punishable by imprisonment of between one and five years,” the prime minister added.
He attached to the post a video clip recording the relevant portion of a conversation with the former prime minister. In it, in response to a question about the previously announced “national resistance,” Viktor Orbán says that the country is not yet ready for this, but that they themselves are in a suitable state for it, that “we could distribute the appropriate tools here,” and “who gets what — whether it’s blunter, sharper — that’s not the question.”
