On the occasion of World Arthritis Day 2026, hospitals conducted various events and seminars to create awareness and promote joint health, while highlighting measures to prevent joint pain and muscle stiffness among the people.
Marking World Arthritis Day, Vidyasagar Arthritis Foundation in association with Vidyasagar Hospital organised an awareness walkathon from Vidyasagar Hospital to Mahaveer Circle in Kadapa on Monday.
The event aimed to raise public awareness about arthritis, promote early diagnosis and preventive measures, and encourage regular physical activity and healthy lifestyle practices for better joint health.
Kadapa district Additional Superintendent of Police Prakash Babu participated in the event. The walkathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from people across different age groups and professional backgrounds, including children, youngsters, senior citizens, doctors and nurses.
Addressing the gathering, Vidyasagar Hospital orthopaedic and robotic joint replacement surgeon Dr. C. Vidyasagar Reddy emphasised the importance of early recognition and appropriate management of arthritis.
He explained that regular physical activity, muscle-strengthening exercises, maintenance of healthy body weight and adopting a balanced lifestyle could help preserve joint function, reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.
Under the theme ‘Achieve Your Dreams – Arthritis Should Not Stop Your Dreams’, the walkathon carried the message ‘Join Together for Joint Health’. The organisers reiterated their commitment to create awareness on arthritis prevention, early detection, joint health and healthy ageing.
In Nellore, an awareness seminar was held at Bhaskar Orthopedic Hospital to mark World Arthritis Day, organised under the aegis of Community Paramedics and Primary Health Care Providers Welfare Association of India.
Speaking on the occasion, orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Konatham Bhaskar educated the patients, and the general public about the symptoms, preventive measures, and treatment methods for arthritis, as well as the importance of maintaining joint health.
He stated that early diagnosis and appropriate treatment for arthritis can help control pain and preserve joint function; it is crucial to avoid delaying treatment—especially for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis—and to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms appear.
