The UK government has set out its plans for regulating artificial intelligence as it warns an attack on the country is likely.
AI Minister Kanishka Narayan warned about the dangers of tech giants self-policing, saying mandatory safety reporting should be introduced, along with tighter controls on the most advanced models.
The minister’s stark warning follows the recent OpenAI breach in Australia but also that the government plans to use AI to strengthen the UK’s national cyber defences.

We began by asking whether the minister was right in saying it’s likely, if not inevitable, that British systems are breached by AI.
