Two youths were killed on the spot after the four-wheeler they were travelling in rammed into a tree near Dibrugarh University in the early hours of Thursday.
The accident took place at around 3 am when the vehicle was heading towards Borbaruah from Dibrugarh city. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into a tree.
The deceased have been identified as Rishiraj Maut, 20, a native of Chabua who resided in Tinsukia, and Lakshyajyoti Phukan, 21, from Tingkhong.
Both youths died on the spot due to the impact of the collision.
