The Milwaukee Brewers made the big decision to start Christian Yelich at designated hitter for Game 1 of the World Series, and it has already paid dividends. The Brewers captain got the scoring started in Game 1 as he hit a triple off Tampa Bay Rays starter Nick Martinez to bring in Jackson Chourio.

And just one batter later, William Contreras brought Yelich home with a single to left to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead in the first.
The triple was a big hit for Yelich, who has not had the most productive postseason. While he has a decent average (.292), he has not hit for much power. Heading into the World Series, he had just one extra base hit (a double) and three RBIs over seven playoff games.
Nevertheless, the fact that Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy placed Yelich third in the lineup for Game 1 of the World Series showed how much faith they have in their captain, and he delivered with that timely triple.
After picking up two quick runs in the first, it is now up to ace Jacob Misiorowski to hold onto that lead for the Brewers. The flamethrowing righty, who already made World Series history with his very first pitch, has looked good thus far, giving up no runs on two hits over the first three innings. Misiorowski is hoping to go deeper into the game this time around and qualify for a decision after failing to reach the fifth inning in each of his first two postseason starts.
