Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor has outlined a Bitcoin-backed, dollar-pegged stablecoin model that he says could deliver annual investor returns of 6% to 8%. Speaking at an investor day, he placed the proposed instrument above Bitcoin and income-producing digital credit in a layered financial system.
The concept remains a projection rather than a launched product. Saylor also described a broader bullish Bitcoin outlook tied to expanding bank custody and lending services.
Saylor Places Yielding Stablecoins Above Bitcoin and Credit
Saylor described Bitcoin as the foundation of a proposed digital financial system. In that model, the cryptocurrency serves as digital capital, while financial products built upon it provide different forms of exposure.
The next layer consists of digital credit, including Strategy’s preferred shares. Such instruments seek to turn Bitcoin-backed capital into income payments without requiring investors to own the cryptocurrency directly. Unlike Bitcoin itself, these securities rely on an issuer and its financial obligations.
Above digital credit, Saylor envisions stable-value products linked to the US dollar. They could combine income from Bitcoin-backed credit with cash assets that support liquidity and price stability. He suggested these products might pay holders 6% to 8% each year.
That figure describes a potential annual return, not a confirmed interest rate or guaranteed payout. Saylor has not identified a launched stablecoin offering those terms in the remarks provided. Its performance would depend on the assets, financing arrangements and reserves supporting it.
Strategy Uses Cash Reserves to Support Digital Credit
Saylor has also argued that Bitcoin alone cannot provide every safeguard a credit product needs. He favors combining cryptocurrency holdings with readily available dollar assets to manage payment commitments and reduce pressure during difficult market conditions.
Strategy’s preferred-share structure reflects that approach. The company uses Bitcoin as a capital base while maintaining cash for dividends and other financial needs. Investors in those shares receive exposure through a corporate security rather than a claim to a fixed amount of Bitcoin.
The company has repurchased about USD 1.5 billion of STRC preferred shares to help stabilize their market price, according to Saylor. Those purchases form part of its effort to keep the security trading near its target level. They do not establish that a future stablecoin would maintain a dollar peg.
Meanwhile, Saylor said Strategy holds enough cash to cover roughly three and a half years of preferred dividend payments. That reserve provides a cushion for existing commitments, although future coverage depends on payout levels and the company’s available funds.
The proposed stablecoin would introduce a separate challenge. Its operator would need to manage redemptions, credit exposure and liquidity while preserving a dollar-linked value. Regulatory requirements would also shape any eventual launch.

Bank Custody Expansion Shapes Saylor’s Bitcoin Outlook
Beyond stablecoins, Saylor recently described Bitcoin as returning to a bull market. His assessment reflected expectations for broader financial adoption rather than an announced change in Bitcoin’s underlying network.
He expects banks to accelerate Bitcoin custody and lending over the next 12 to 24 months. Custody services would allow institutions to hold the asset for customers, while lending could create additional financial activity around those holdings.
The development of such services could provide the infrastructure for Bitcoin-backed credit products. Still, Saylor’s timetable represents a forecast, not confirmation that banks will introduce specific offerings within that period.
For the proposed digital money system, custody, reserves and access to liquidity would remain central requirements. Bitcoin prices can fluctuate sharply, so effective collateral management would affect the stability of any linked product.
Saylor did not provide a launch date or name an issuer for the proposed stablecoin. His projected annual return remains a preliminary target rather than a product currently available to investors.
Conclusion
Saylor’s proposed Bitcoin-backed stablecoin would combine digital credit with dollar reserves and target 6%–8% annual returns. Strategy’s preferred-share buybacks and cash holdings provide context for his model, while bank custody and lending remain expected growth drivers. The proposed yield carries no guarantee, and no launch date has been announced.
