Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has pledged to prioritise job creation, skills development, agriculture, electricity, healthcare and infrastructure as he begins his second term in office.
Oyebanji made the pledge on Friday, October 16 during his inauguration ceremony at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, following his re-election in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
The governor said his administration would build on the achievements of its first term while addressing outstanding challenges and ensuring that more residents benefit from government programmes.
“Our responsibility is to preserve ourselves as people, improve what needs improvement, and carry the work forward,” he said.
Oyebanji also called for unity across political divides, stressing that disagreements should not undermine the state’s development.
“Our political differences must never become comparable to our common progress. Election may place us in different camps, but we are welcome because we must all work to bring us together,” he said.
The governor said his administration would focus on translating public investments into tangible improvements in the lives of residents, particularly in education, healthcare, agriculture, transportation and access to electricity.

He noted that roads should help farmers transport their produce to markets, while reliable electricity should support businesses, artisans and industrial activities.
“A school must help a child acquire knowledge, confidence, and functional skills,” he said, adding that healthcare facilities should provide quality services without forcing patients to exhaust their resources.
On agriculture, Oyebanji pledged to expand opportunities for farmers through improved access to production inputs, affordable financing, processing facilities, storage and markets.
He said the state would also work towards making agriculture more attractive to young people by promoting technology, investment and innovation across the value chain.
“A good harvest should bring reward to the person who labours for it,” the governor said.

He added that the government would continue to develop farm clusters and supporting infrastructure to improve productivity and create employment opportunities in rural communities.
On education and youth development, Oyebanji said his second-term administration would strengthen the connection between education, practical skills and employment.
He said young people who acquire education and technical skills should have opportunities to earn a living, establish businesses and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
The governor also pledged to sustain investments in healthcare, water supply, security and other public services, saying the impact of government policies should be measured by the experiences of ordinary residents.
“I will remain accessible. I will listen. I will welcome honest answers. I will work with people across our political and social environment,” he said.
“Where we have done well, we will do it further. Where we have fallen short, we will make corrections. Where our people still need action, we will keep seeking practical solutions.”
Oyebanji further called on public servants to demonstrate fairness, promptness and accountability in dealing with residents, while urging businesses, educational institutions and communities to support the state’s development efforts.
He also appealed to Ekiti residents to support President Bola Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 elections, arguing that continued cooperation with the Federal Government would help sustain ongoing projects and interventions in the state.
The governor thanked residents for renewing his mandate and acknowledged the expectations accompanying his second term, pledging to work towards broader economic opportunities and improved public services over the next four years.
TVC News Online had earlier reported that the governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has been sworn into office for his second term as governor of the state.
He was sworn in by the state Chief Judge (CJ), Justice Lekan Adekanye Ogunmoye, at exactly 1:38 p.m. at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The swearing in ceremonly followed Oyebanji’s re-election in the 20 June 2026 governorship election, in which he secured 319,224 votes to emerge as the winner, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
