There is a new-look top 10 following the conclusion of the China Open in Beijing, where Qinwen Zheng clinched the title.
Home favourite Zheng beat Mirra Andreeva 7-5, 6-4 in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament, where she was a wildcard. Her final opponent was the fourth seed. It was a stunning run from the Chinese star, who was roared on by the fans against the Russian ace, winning after one hour and 42 minutes.
Zheng has soared the WTA rankings following her success, and she has been joined in a rankings rise by her fellow China Open finalist Andreeva. American duo Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula have, however, taken a small hit in the latest WTA rankings update.
Coco Gauff and Mirra Andreeva have new WTA rankings after the China Open
Elena Rybakina lost her opening match in Beijing, which was her first since officially becoming world number one. But she remains in that position despite her early exit, with Aryna Sabalenka also staying in second despite an early defeat too.
There is, however, a significant change after that, with Andreeva rising two places to world number three. It is the Russian’s career-high rank. She has overtaken both Pegula and Gauff, who have slipped one place each to fourth and fifth respectively.
After that, Elina Svitolina and Karolina Muchova have each climbed one place to sixth and seventh respectively. Linda Noskova drops two places to eighth, with Iga Swiatek unchanged in ninth and Marta Kostyuk unchanged in 10th.

Mirra Andreeva and Qinwen Zheng withdraw from Wuhan Open
Andreeva certainly isn’t the only player to reach her career-high, with fellow teenager Iva Jovic doing the same. Just 18 years old, one year younger than Andreeva, the American has climbed two places to 11th.
While they are among many players who will be eager to celebrate their rises, the calendar rapidly moves on to the Wuhan Open. But the WTA 1000 tournament will be without many high-profile names, including China Open finalists Zheng and Andreeva. Both players have decided to withdraw from the event following their lengthy runs in Beijing.
The former cited a right shoulder injury while the latter cited a change in schedule. They join a long list of early casualties in Wuhan, which is without world number one Rybakina, defending champion Gauff, Naomi Osaka and Amanda Anisimova among others. Sabalenka is the top seed, followed by Pegula. It is the final WTA 1000 tournament of the season.
