A day after heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds washed out Thursday evening’s concert at Yuva Dasara, light to moderate rain continued to lash the city for the second consecutive day on Friday. However, the weather failed to dampen the spirits of music lovers, who thronged the venue for ‘Sandalwood Night’, featuring singers from Kannada film industry, including Chandan Shetty.
The concert scheduled for Thursday evening was cancelled as rain continued late into the night, forcing disappointed fans to leave the venue. Those who had gathered for the show struggled to protect themselves from the downpour. The speaker tower was also reported to have tilted towards the LED screen following the rain.
The cancellation left music lovers disappointed, while the downpour triggered traffic congestion on and around the Ring Road near Uthanahalli as crowds dispersed from the venue.
On Friday evening, rain continued, though its intensity was lower. The drizzle failed to deter fans of Sandalwood stars, who turned up to enjoy the performances. Many came prepared for the weather, carrying umbrellas to watch the show.
In view of the rain forecast, the organisers decided to hold only the ‘Sandalwood Night’ programme at Yuva Dasara on Friday, cancelling the filler event.
