KUALA LUMPUR: The investigation paper on Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim's police report alleging that he was forced to sign a proclamation instrument against his will has been referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC).
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the investigation paper was referred to the A-GC on Sept 29 for review and further instructions.
"Police are awaiting the A-GC's decision and further instructions on the investigation paper.
"Any further police action or investigation will be subject to the outcome of the A-GC's review and directions," he said in a written parliamentary reply.
He was responding to Cha Kee Chin (PH-Rasah), who sought an update on the investigation into Ismail's police report, lodged on Sept 8, over the alleged incident, as well as action taken or to be taken against those involved.
Saifuddin said police had received the report before launching an investigation and opening an investigation paper.
He said police had recorded statements from four individuals to assist in the investigation.
"Police will take appropriate action in accordance with the provisions of the law.
"The Home Ministry assures that police will conduct the investigation professionally, transparently and in accordance with the law, without favouring any party," he said.
Ismail had previously maintained that he signed the proclamation instrument seeking the removal of Negri Sembilan Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir against his will after the document went viral.
