Customers ask for analytics because they want to make a decision inside your product: investigate an exception, compare locations, or understand whether their team is getting value. The platform you choose should make that task easier and give your team a workable way to maintain it.
Embeddable is our best overall choice for SaaS teams building custom customer analytics with a dedicated engineering owner. It pairs developer-defined components with a managed modeling foundation and dashboard release controls. That combination suits a product team that wants control over the experience without writing every part of the analytics infrastructure itself.
Other priorities lead to other choices. Shared workspace governance, analyst-led reporting, spreadsheet exploration, and a built-in data engine each deserve a different shortlist.
How we assessed the platforms
We included products with documented customer-facing embedding and access configuration. We compared what can be embedded, who maintains the interface and business definitions, how customer identity is supplied, and what remains to operate after launch. Custom product interactions and controlled delivery determine our overall recommendation.
Embeddable is first for that use case; the other entries cover different ownership models. This guide is based on official documentation, not hands-on performance or security testing. It was prepared as part of an Embeddable-focused content project. Screenshots are genuine vendor examples, which illustrate the interfaces without proving suitability for every application.
Compare the ownership model first
1. Embeddable
Embeddable is a good fit when analytics belongs inside the product's own interaction design. Developers can define React components with configurable inputs and events, then use them in dashboards delivered through an authenticated web component.
Its managed data modeling layer translates requests into SQL, while saved dashboard versions support controlled publishing. The component development model is especially relevant when standard charts are only part of the requirement.
The commitment is a named technical owner. Custom components, source models, and access rules need maintenance. Choose it when that control is worth owning; a team seeking an entirely analyst-operated reporting service should weigh the engineering responsibility carefully.
2. GoodData
GoodData addresses the challenge of keeping many customer reporting environments consistent. Parent workspaces can pass analytical entities to children, where the inherited objects remain read-only. GoodData.UI provides a React SDK for embedding analytics in the application.
This is useful when a correction to a shared definition should have a central owner, while customers still need separately organized content. It gives structure to a problem that otherwise becomes copying and maintaining similar dashboards repeatedly.
The workspace hierarchy requires deliberate design. Decide which objects are common and which belong to a customer. If every account needs a different definition of the same metric, the organizational question needs resolving before inheritance becomes a solution.
3. Looker
Looker's appeal is strongest when a team wants business logic maintained in LookML and customer reports built around that foundation. Signed embedding integrates content with an application using a defined identity and permission setup.
A capable analytics team can make that central model valuable across many reports. The corresponding responsibility is maintaining it when the underlying data or business rules change. The product team still owns the surrounding customer experience and its integration.
Looker on Google Cloud core requires the Embed edition for signed embedding. Treat that as part of the starting architecture and commercial proposal, rather than an optional detail to resolve after selecting the tool.
4. Luzmo
Luzmo gives teams a choice between embedding dashboards or an editor and using Flex for a more code-oriented chart experience. That makes it relevant when analysts should handle routine reporting changes while developers build selected product interactions.
The split can keep a small layout request out of an application release, provided the authoring responsibilities are clear. It also avoids assuming that every view must be developed in the same way.
Access tokens belong on the server, where the application establishes customer permissions. Include both content-editing rights and data access in the design. Letting a customer rearrange a dashboard is a different permission from letting them query another customer's records.
5. Metabase
ask follow-up questions. Its modular embedding can include individual dashboards and the query builder in a React application, rather than requiring the entire BI interface.
The query-builder option matters when users need more than the filters you anticipated. It can expand self-service, but the available data and query permissions need to reflect what those users should be able to explore.
Authenticated modular embedding requires the relevant commercial tier. Metabase's embedding documentation distinguishes those requirements. Do not price this implementation as a free public dashboard embed simply because an open-source edition exists.
6. Omni
Omni is a strong candidate when analyst exploration should feed a shared model. Its workbook layer supports local analysis, while agreed calculations can be promoted into shared definitions. Signed embedding brings dashboards and workbooks into customer applications.
This gives teams a way to separate an exploratory question from an official metric. A newly requested calculation can be investigated before becoming a maintained part of every customer's reporting experience.
The shared model needs an owner, and customer identity needs to reach the access configuration correctly. Content permissions and permitted data are related but separate. A customer opening the intended workbook is only one part of a correct tenant implementation.
7. Microsoft Power BI
Power BI is a practical candidate when the team already creates reports and semantic models in Microsoft's ecosystem. Its app-owns-data embedding model allows customers to use reports through the application's authentication without individual Power BI credentials or licences.
Production embedding requires capacity, so the operating model differs from simply buying report-author licences. Microsoft's embedded analytics overview explains the distinction from embedding for an organization's own users.
The advantage is reusing existing reporting skills and assets. The limitation is that a report-centered authoring workflow still shapes the experience. Demonstrate the particular interactions your product needs before assuming an existing internal report is ready for customers.
8. Qrvey
Qrvey is relevant when the purchase needs to cover a broader embedded analytics workload. It includes a data engine, synced and live data options, and customer-controlled or managed deployment choices.
For a SaaS team without a settled analytical data stack, those capabilities deserve attention. They move some questions about data handling into the platform decision instead of leaving them entirely outside it.
Broader scope also means more responsibility to allocate. Select the deployment and data mode, then identify who handles ingestion failures, refresh expectations, and tenant configuration. An integrated platform can reduce the number of separate products, but it does not eliminate operational decisions or make every source ready for analysis.
9. Sigma
Sigma suits customers who want to explore data through spreadsheet-style workbooks. Secure embedding, saved views, themes, and version tags are documented parts of its embedded offering.
The useful question is how much analytical freedom customers should have. Some products need a small set of carefully designed interactions; others benefit from a more open-ended workspace. Those are different product decisions, not simply different dashboard layouts.
Inventory viewing, exploration, and editing requirements separately. A workbook can support a richer analytical workflow than a static report, but that also means more behavior to design and support. Secure embeds require a server-side token flow tied to the application's access model.
10. Sisense
Sisense offers a component-oriented route through Compose SDK for React, Angular, and Vue, alongside a separate Embed SDK for dashboard integration. Developers can therefore assess different units of integration rather than treating the whole dashboard as the only option.
Its data-model choices include imported ElastiCube models, Live models, and Build-to-Destination. The selected architecture determines additional work around data movement, queries, and operations.
This is a strong option for teams able to make frontend and data decisions together. Specify the intended SDK and model architecture in the proposal. A feature list assembled from every Sisense route can overstate what one implementation will deliver without additional work.
Ask who will handle the next change
The first dashboard is only the beginning. A useful procurement conversation follows a request from arrival to release:
If the proposed platform leaves one of these tasks between teams, resolve that gap before purchase. The smoothest demo is not necessarily the easiest system for your organization to maintain.
Define a useful first release
Start with one decision customers already make and the smallest report that supports it. Write down the expected result, the permitted data for two different customer accounts, and what users should see when a query is slow, empty, or unavailable.
Then demonstrate that complete journey with the intended authentication and deployment model. Measure it using your own data and workload; vendor documentation does not establish production latency or security for your application.
Compare total cost at normal usage and a busier scenario. Include licences or capacity, data infrastructure, implementation, and ongoing ownership. Embeddable's pricing page describes a scope-based approach, which should be evaluated against the work in your actual proposal. Apply the same discipline to every vendor's quote.
Choose the platform whose strengths match the work your team can own. That is a more durable foundation for customer analytics than selecting the longest feature list.
