What a 2026 Sandra Hüller is having, eh? Having been launched into the spotlight by the one-two punch of The Zone Of Interest and Anatomy Of A Fall back in 2023, the German actor's star has been on the rise and rise, arriving at the point where the past ten months alone have seen the Oscar nominee light it up in Project Hail Mary, Rose, Fatherland, and Digger... and the year ain't over yet. Per THR's reporting, Hüller — not one to rest on her laurels — has just added a mystery cameo role in the Russo Brothers' upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
Having conspicuously appeared on the British Stunt Register in recent weeks and been a regular name floating around the online rumour mill over the last couple of months, news of Hüller's Doomsday involvement may not necessarily come as a total surprise, but official confirmation of her casting is nevertheless sure to be an eyebrow raiser. Of particular interest is the fact that Hüller is specifically making a cameo appearance in the Russos' all-star superhero battle royale, which — given the actor's stature — certainly suggests that whoever she may be playing is likely to be unveiled as some sort of surprise or twist in Doomsday before potentially going on to occupy a far larger role in Multiverse Saga ender Secret Wars next December. Or, at least, that's what we would hope.
Whispers have had Hüller pegged as everything from Doctor Doom's wife to his mother to one of those mysterious colour-coordinated Latverian Witches whose presence has become a focal point in both the movie's marketing and fans' theorising as Doomsday grows ever nearer. The simple truth at this stage is that in a movie that's about to bring all the disparate parts of the MCU together — from Thunderbolts*' New Avengers and The Fantastic Four to the OG Fox X-Men team and beyond — Sandra Hüller could be playing just about anyone. Fortunately for us here in the UK, we'll find out for ourselves very soon, because Avengers: Doomsday hits cinemas in Blighty on December 16. Amaze amaze amazing stuff!
