The harrowing incident took place at approximately 7:48 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, at a building in Zhangping, Fujian Province, according to the South China Morning Post.
How the Child Ended Up Dangling From the Window
The toddler had been left alone at home while her mother stepped out to buy groceries. She apparently squeezed through a window opening before her head became wedged in the metal safety grille, leaving her entire body suspended outside the building with only her head and arms anchored inside.
Footage of the rescue captured the alarming scene: the child's feet desperately searching for something solid beneath her as she held on with her small hands.
Residents and building security did not wait for official help to arrive. A neighbour and a security guard leaned out of a window on the floor below, holding a stool beneath the girl to provide some support.
Reports indicate that several residents took turns at the window, switching out with others when their arms tired during the tense ordeal.
Firefighters eventually arrived and forced their way into the locked apartment using power tools, according to a video released by the official Nanchang account. Once inside, they safely brought the child back through the window.
The girl was taken to hospital as a precaution after the rescue, but medical staff confirmed she sustained no injuries, according to Metro UK.
