(ANSA) - BELGRADO, 23 OTT - The Commissioner of the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2027 Belgrade, Ambassador to Serbia Luca Gori, and the Director General for Economic Development, Culture, and Tourism of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Roberto Ricci Mingani, signed the agreement outlining the Region’s participation in the specialized international exposition, scheduled to take place in the Serbian capital from May 15 to August 15, 2027. Expo 2027 Belgrade, titled “Playing for Humanity: Sports and Music for All,” will feature the participation of approximately 140 countries. The signed agreement implements the Framework Agreement initialed on June 24, 2026, in Rome between the same commission and the president of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, Massimiliano Fedriga, aimed at ensuring a structured and coordinated participation of Italian regions in the Expo. From May 27 to 29, 2027, the Emilia-Romagna Region will have a dedicated exhibition space within the Italian Pavilion and will be the focus of Regional Days dedicated to promoting the region, its areas of excellence, and opportunities for economic and international collaboration.
The president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Michele de Pascale, stated in this regard: “Expo 2027 Belgrade will be an important opportunity for countries and regions to meet and exchange ideas, centered on the value of sports, music, and play as tools for growth, inclusion, and dialogue between cultures. This is a particularly important event today, at a historic moment when dialogue and cooperation among peoples and countries represent an asset to be safeguarded and strengthened, in the belief that through culture, sports, and mutual understanding, we can build bridges where divisions threaten to prevail.” Emilia-Romagna, he added, “is a region where quality of life, people’s well-being, and community cohesion are at the heart of our development model. This heritage is nurtured every day thanks to an extraordinary network of local governments, businesses, universities, associations, and local organizations, where a commitment to inclusion and opportunities for the younger generations goes hand in hand with research, innovation, and economic and social development.” For de Pascale, the Region’s presence in the Italian Pavilion will be an opportunity “to highlight this heritage, strengthen international relations, and open up new opportunities for collaboration, including in the economic and research spheres. With the signing of this agreement, we are embarking on a journey that we will build together with the organizations in our region, in preparation for the three days dedicated to Emilia-Romagna, from May 27 to 29, 2027. We want this to be an opportunity to showcase our region, but above all to forge lasting bonds and create opportunities that will endure over time.” “Expo 2027 Belgrade,” stated the Italian commissioner, Ambassador Luca Gori, —“represents an exceptional opportunity to showcase the excellence of Emilia-Romagna, one of Europe’s most dynamic and innovative regions, and to strengthen opportunities for economic, industrial, and technological collaboration with Serbia, including in the strategic sectors of advanced mechanical engineering, agri-food, and Motor Valley.”
