Retro gaming fans have another reason to revisit their favorite classic games. Analogue has announced updated versions of its Super Nt and Mega Sg consoles, bringing back its modern takes on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and Sega Genesis with several useful hardware upgrades.
The new Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus retain the original consoles' cartridge-based gaming experience while adding built-in wireless connectivity, USB-C power, and a refreshed design. Both systems cost USD 219.99, with preorders opening on October 19, 2026. Shipping is expected to begin in December.
Analogue Adds Wireless Connectivity and USB-C
One of the biggest changes is built-in wireless support. The updated consoles can connect to compatible controllers through Bluetooth or low-latency 2.4GHz wireless, eliminating the need for an external USB dongle.
Players can still use wired controllers, so they can stick with their existing accessories. Another convenient addition allows users to turn on either console remotely using the connected primary gamepad.
Analogue has also replaced the older power connection with USB-C, making it easier to power the systems using widely available cables. An additional USB-A port supports other peripherals.
Play Original Cartridges Without Emulation
The Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus use field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology to recreate the behavior of the original Nintendo and Sega hardware. Unlike software emulation, which imitates a console through software, FPGA-based systems reproduce hardware logic using configurable electronic circuits.
This approach is designed to deliver an experience closer to playing on the original machines. Both consoles support 1080p output for modern televisions. However, they do not offer 4K gaming, unlike Analogue's newer Analogue 3D console, which is designed for Nintendo 64 games.
Cartridge Swapping Gets Easier
Analogue has also introduced a practical improvement for players who regularly switch between games. Users can now exit a game through the console menu and swap cartridges without completely powering down the system.
The company has also reworked the consoles' industrial design, operating system, and packaging. These changes aim to make the systems more convenient while retaining their retro gaming appeal.

Price and Preorder Details
Both consoles will cost USD 219.99, with preorders opening on October 19. Shipping is expected to begin in December 2026. For players who still own original SNES or Genesis cartridges, the updated consoles let them enjoy their collections on modern TVs with fewer accessories. However, owners of the previous models may find the upgrades modest, as the new versions still output 1080p rather than 4K.
