Yemen’s government forces announced on Wednesday that they had killed approximately 285 members of the Iran-backed Houthi movement in a series of 835 attacks over the past 24 hours, as part of their “Dawn of Yemen” operation. The significant military engagement is aimed at countering Houthi advances and securing strategic positions within the region. The development comes amid ongoing conflict in Yemen, where government forces continue to clash with the Houthis, who have been making strategic moves towards key locations, including Aden.

The recent military success by Yemen’s government forces appears to have influenced prediction markets, with a notable decrease in the likelihood of Houthi forces entering Aden by October 31, 2026. The probability of such an outcome fell from 4% a week ago to 1.3%, suggesting that market participants view the current developments as a setback for the Houthis. This military action could potentially stabilize the situation around Aden, as forces loyal to Yemen’s government regain control over key areas.

The broader implications of this operation are reflected in the fluctuating market odds for related scenarios, such as potential Houthi military actions against Israel. Market participants appear to be closely monitoring the situation, with the odds of Houthi action against Israel by December 31, 2026, showing recent volatility, possibly indicating a reassessment of Houthi capabilities and intentions in light of the current military dynamics.

Key Takeaways

• Markets suggest a decreased likelihood that Houthi forces will enter Aden by October 31, 2026, following the reported military action by Yemen’s government.
• The odds for Houthi military action against Israel by the end of 2026 have shown notable fluctuations, reflecting uncertainty about Houthi strategies.
• Yemen’s military success in the “Dawn of Yemen” operation appears consistent with a scenario where Houthi advances are temporarily hindered.
