20-year-old British free speech advocate and Restore Britain party operative Montgomery Toms was attacked by an angry mob during one of his public debates in Brighton, England, United Kingdom, on Saturday, 10 October.
He uploaded multiple videos of the incident to his X feed. The footage shows him being swarmed by a mob of mostly young men who tore down his tent.
Toms’s tent was used as the backdrop to film debates with members of the public, in the style of the late American conservative activist Charlie Kirk. In Brighton, he sought to discuss immigration and national sovereignty.

Toms also claims that he was spat on by one of the angry youths who came to confront him. He shared the video of that specific incident as well. In the caption, he stated that ‘the police have notified me that they have found him [the suspect who allegedly spat on him], and he is being interviewed.’
On the police’s handling of the situation, he said that law enforcement had ‘behaved rather well’ after arriving at the scene, although he criticized officers for taking too long to get there.
This is the second time Montgomery Toms has been the target of an angry leftist mob in a short period of time.
On 7 October, he visited the Cardiff University campus in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom, to hold one of his debate events. He was attacked by an angry group there, too. He identified his attackers as members of the progressive activist group Stand Up to Racism.
However, Toms still described that event as an overall positive experience, as he claims to have been protected by freshman students who were familiar with his work and supported him.

Back in June, another young British right-wing activist, Thomas ‘Young Bob’ Moffitt, was attacked by a group of migrants in Manchester, UK. He appeared to have sustained significant injuries to his face, as evidenced by the photos he shared afterwards, unlike Toms in the recent incidents in Cardiff and Brighton.
Who Is Montgomery Toms?
According to his official website, Toms became politically active during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, which he saw as blatant government overreach. He was just 14 at the time.
After the end of the pandemic restrictions, in 2025, he founded Freedom Watch GB, a civil watchdog and advocacy group focusing on free speech, holding the government accountable, and opposing digital surveillance of citizens. On their official website, the group describes themselves as ‘a youth-led movement on the front line of Britain’s fight for freedom’.
He is also a member of the British right-wing populist party Restore Britain, led by MP Rupert Lowe.
