'The FW GOAT': Alexander Volkanovski's unreal UFC 333 knockout has fighters talking all-time greatness

Alexander Volkanovski just keeps finding ways to add to his legend.

At 38 years old, the UFC featherweight champion delivered another unforgettable moment Saturday at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, knocking out previously undefeated contender Movsar Evloev in the second round to retain his 145-pound title. Evloev entered the night with a perfect 20-0 record and 10 straight UFC victories, but even one of the division's most dominant wrestlers couldn't solve the puzzle Volkanovski presents.

The performance added another remarkable chapter to an already historic career, making Volkanovski the new winningest champion in UFC featherweight history. Now the owner of nine UFC title victories, Volkanovski officially surpassed UFC Hall of Famer and featherweight legend Jose Aldo for the most championship wins in the division’s all-time ranks. Making matters more impressive, he's still knocking off undefeated challengers at an age when most fighters are long past their primes.

And unsurprisingly, the MMA world couldn't believe what it’d just witnessed.

Fighters across the sport flooded social media with praise for Volkanovski, marveling at his ability to turn back the clock and finish a challenger who had never lost. Many declared him the greatest featherweight in UFC history, while others argued that his latest triumph only strengthened his case as one of the greatest fighters of all time, regardless of weight class.
