Former Sierra Leone international striker Kei Kamara has dismissed rumours linking him with a return to football at newly promoted Sierra Leone Premier League side Waterloo FC, insisting he has no plans to come out of retirement.
Speculation linking the former Major League Soccer (MLS) star with Waterloo FC spread across social media late last week, prompting the veteran forward to address the claims.
Responding to the rumours in a Facebook post, Kamara wrote: “No, I’m not coming out of retirement.”
He urged football fans to stop circulating the speculation, making it clear that he has retired from professional football and would only consider playing in charity matches.
Kamara brought his remarkable career to an end at the close of last season, drawing the curtain on a historic spell in the MLS, where he established himself as one of the league’s most recognisable forwards.
Meanwhile, Waterloo FC have made an encouraging start to life in the Sierra Leone Premier League following their promotion.
The Western Area Rural-based club has already recruited two of Kamara’s former Leone Stars teammates, Musa Noah Kamara and Mohamed Nbalie Kamara, as they look to establish themselves among the country’s top-flight clubs.

Waterloo FC maintained their perfect start to the campaign on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Diamond Stars at the Approved School Grounds.
The win was their second in as many matches, leaving them top of the league table with six points.
Despite the rumours surrounding Kamara, Waterloo FC will have to continue their campaign without the retired striker, who has ruled out a return to competitive football.
