The Boston Celtics had a chance to start the season 1-0, but they couldn't get the job done after blowing a lead against the Detroit Pistons.
The Celtics looked to be in a very good position to win that game, but unfortunately, they weren't able to get the job done. It is what it is, and despite all the agendas flying around social media, one game isn't going to change anything, even with guys who struggled.
One player who struggled in particular was Mitchell Robinson.
Robinson, who the Celtics signed during the offseason, acquiring him from the New York Knicks, appeared in just 18 minutes, scoring four points and putting up three rebounds.
He blocked two shots, but ultimately, he didn't look great. The Celtics brought him in to grab rebounds at a high level, and only grabbing three in that 18-minute span won’t cut it.
While trading him doesn't seem to be something Boston is considering right now, he could be available eventually for the right price.
Bleacher Report recently looked at players Boston could deal for him, with Trey Murphy coming up as a potential option. Over the past year or so, Murphy has been viewed as a legitimate trade candidate to Boston.
“The Boston Celtics feel like they'll wait until the offseason if they go buck wild on the trade market, but Trey Murphy III is Mazzullaball nirvana. His three-point shooting scales to higher volume and movement, and he's a lob target in his own right. A team-friendly salary through 2028-29 only heightens his appeal.
“The Celtics can match his money without including Paul George if they're willing to ship out Mitchell Robinson as part of a (mega) package once he's trade-eligible,” Dan Favale of Bleacher Report wrote.
The problem with trading for Murphy isn't just that it would force the Celtics to move on from some of their tradable contracts, it would also take a decent amount of first-round picks.
The New Orleans Pelicans haven't shown a willingness to move on from him yet, though they could be interested if they struggle again this season.
