Greta Gerwig’s upcoming adaptation of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew has received a positive response from some skeptical fans following the release of its first poster. The artwork offers an early glimpse into the Netflix film’s visual world, which adapts C.S. Lewis’s beloved fantasy novel.
The poster has drawn attention for its dreamlike imagery and its apparent connection to the illustrations in the original book. While concerns about Gerwig’s interpretation remain, the first promotional image has given some viewers reason to be optimistic about the project.
First Poster Offers a Glimpse into Gerwig’s Narnia
Netflix unveiled the first poster for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew ahead of the film’s first-look trailer. The artwork features three figures illuminated by iridescent light, alongside a large, cosmic depiction of Aslan, the lion central to the Narnia universe.
The figures appear to represent Polly (Beatrice Campbell), Digory (David McKenna), and their flying horse, Fledge. Aslan, voiced by Meryl Streep, features prominently in the background.
The poster reveals little about the plot, but its visual style has drawn attention from viewers who were uncertain about the adaptation. Some fans have also noted its resemblance to fantasy-film posters from the 1980s and early 1990s.
Fans React Positively, but Concerns Remain
Social media reactions suggest the artwork has won over at least some viewers who were previously skeptical of Gerwig’s approach to the franchise.
‘Pretty awesome,’ one user noted on the poster, while another called it ‘one hell of a poster.’ A third Reddit user praised the poster’s aesthetics as comparable to the fantasy films of the 1980s and early 1990s.
While the poster’s positive reception doesn’t mean it addresses concerns about the adaptation, some fans still worry about changes to the story and how it portrays the characters, costumes, and timeline.
Jadis was one of the characters that received criticism. Some viewers were dissatisfied with the costume design, as it did not properly emphasize royalty.

Release Plans and What Comes Next
The released poster is only the first stage of Netflix’s promotion for the upcoming movie. The film’s theatrical release is planned for February 12, 2027, and its streaming release is set for April 2, 2027.
While the upcoming poster hints at the director’s creative approach, the trailer will provide more details.
For now, the poster has revived interest in the upcoming movie, and whether that enthusiasm is justified will become clear once the movie hits theaters.
