St George's Chapel is an iconic building located at Windsor Castle that has an illustrious history and an instantly-recognisable interior. An unearthed watercolour depiction of the grand space has been shared by The Royal Collection Trust, and it's blown royal fans away.
The piece beautifully highlighted the kaleidoscope of colours presented by the flags which line the walls, hanging halfway up the incredibly tall structure. The intricately detailed walls and show-stopping ceiling create a breathtaking scene, and royal fans couldn’t help but comment. Some users simply left love heart emojis to express their feelings towards the view, while others penned comments like: “Wonderful.” One added: “This is so beautiful, the details. Wow!”
The caption by the RCT reads: "This watercolour shows a view of St George's Chapel from the altar, looking towards the organ and entrance. The garter flags are visible high above.

"Created by Charles Wild in 1818, a similar view can be seen today during a visit to the Chapel within the grounds of Windsor Castle."
The chapel, which was built in 1475, took 53 years to complete, and you can see why. Present day photos confirm the claims that visually the room remains the same. One thing that’s not visibly clear on the painting but is still present is the striking checkerboard floor which makes for the perfect bridal aisle.

A dream Windsor wedding venue
St George’s Chapel is one of Windsor Castle’s most spectacular spaces, and it was where Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank tied the knot in 2018. The couple have just celebrated their eight-year wedding anniversary on 12 October.

To mark the occasion, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s daughter shared a heartfelt post on social media - an ode to her husband who is also a doting dad to her three children. The royal shared a sweet video of Jack cradling their baby daughter Adelaide with a loving message: "Happy 8 years married my love," she wrote. "What you can't hear in this video is Jack asking our daughter if she likes her head being massaged that way… so thoughtful, caring, and the best Dada to our 3. Couldn’t have wished for a better partner,” she added, along with love heart emojis.
The beautiful venue also played host to another very significant royal wedding - Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s, a few months prior to Eugenie’s, on 19 May.
King Charles and Queen Camilla, who were then Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, also had a post-wedding ceremony service of prayer and dedication within the chapel in 2005.
