Kriti Sanon was among the many actors who attended the first anniversary celebrations of Nita Ambani’s artisan-focused retail and cultural initiative in Mumbai. For the occasion, the actor wore a kurta set from designer Mayyur Girotra created in collaboration with Swadesh—a bohemian number that can become the cornerstone of your Navratri looks.
Unlike most-commonly seen kurta designs, the actor was spotted in a ‘jhola’ silhouette that is signature of Girotra. Characterised by its A-line, oversized, bell-shaped design, the kurta is both comfortable and occasion-worthy. Sanon’s was made using gold tissue fabric with an antique finish, the full-sleeves featured Kutchi embroidery made with patchwork, colourful threads and mirrors, and was lined with cowrie shell tassels. The trouser-like straight-fit pants in purple offered a welcome contrast, which highlighted matching craftsmanship details. The look was elevated with its dupatta—proving, once again, its importance in Indian wear—woven in a double ikat weave, showcasing Gujarat’s rich textile culture. The colourful patola dupatta was inundated with motifs of flora and fauna, while the border was elevated with applique work and cowrie tassels.

When it came to accessories, Sanon took the traditional route to complete her bohemian ensemble. She paired this look with gold embroidered juttis from Fizzy Goblet and a top-handle hand-held bag made of pure silver with filigree and meenakari detailing from Motifs by Surabhi Didwania. Her bangles, ring, medallion earrings and a choker with red and green accents were also from the same brand. Sanon kept her makeup simple with classic smokey eyes, understated nude lips and a simple red bindi, while her hair was left blowdried in loose, unfussy waves.
