Riyadh – King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh will remain closed to flights until at least midnight Monday, Saudi time, according to the latest Reuters report, following attacks on the airport over two consecutive days.
The closure corresponds to 9:00 PM GMT on Monday and 1:00 AM UAE time on Tuesday. The resumption of operations remains contingent on further updates.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has urged airlines to exercise caution when traveling to or transiting Saudi airspace due to risks associated with military activity and interference with navigation systems.
The FAA's advisory, which remains in effect until December 10, follows the attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday and Sunday, which killed 13 people and injured more than 300, followed by a second attack on Sunday that left one dead and 11 injured, according to Saudi authorities.
The administration stated, "These threats may pose a potential danger to aircraft at all altitudes, including during flight over Saudi airspace and during arrival and departure phases," warning of a "potentially dangerous situation."
The notice also applies to operators of U.S.-registered aircraft.
Riyadh Airport remains closed to flights until at least 5:00 PM Eastern Time on Monday.
