Edo Queens Football Club have accepted the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to play the outstanding extra time of their WAFU-B final against Ghana’s Ampem FC on October 29, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt.
The club admitted that the outcome of its appeal was not what it had hoped for but said it had decided to complete the match in the interest of sporting fairness.
Following consultations with its board, the Edo State Government and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Edo Queens resolved to settle the contest on the pitch.
The team is expected to depart for Cairo on Monday, October 26.
The club thanked the Edo State Government and the NFF for their support, guidance and representation throughout the appeal process.
“Our mission remains unchanged: to fight, to win and to secure our place in the CAF Women’s Champions League,” the club said.
The tournament is scheduled to begin in Cairo on November 1, 2026.
Acknowledging the disappointment among its supporters, Edo Queens said it shared their determination to see the matter resolved on the pitch.
“We have chosen to move forward with courage, discipline and resilience,” a statement signed by the club’s Media Officer, Ojieva Ehiosun, read in part.
The club also expressed gratitude to its fans and the media for their support during the appeal process, urging supporters to continue backing the team ahead of the decisive encounter.
Edo Queens said their players and technical crew remained focused and ready to represent Edo State and Nigeria with pride.

The dispute arose after Edo Queens defeated Ampem FC 4-1 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in regulation time in the WAFU-B final in Burkina Faso on September 5, 2026.
Ampem FC subsequently protested the decision to proceed directly to penalties, arguing that an additional 30 minutes of extra time should have been played in accordance with the rules of the game.
CAF’s disciplinary and appeal boards later considered the case and ruled in favour of the Ghanaian club, leading to the decision to complete the outstanding extra time in Cairo.
