Blaine Perkins has secured a major opportunity for the next chapter of his NASCAR career, announcing a multiyear deal with Sam Hunt Racing that will begin with the 2027 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season.
The 26-year-old driver will take over the team’s No. 24 Toyota GR Supra, joining an organization that has continued to build its presence in NASCAR’s second-tier series. The move gives Perkins a new home as he looks to take the next step in his career and compete for stronger results.
Perkins Makes the Move to Toyota
Sam Hunt Racing announced the agreement Wednesday, October 14, confirming that Perkins will join the organization beginning in 2027. He will work with crew chief Brian Gainey, while additional sponsorship and partnership details will be announced at a later date.
Perkins expressed excitement about the opportunity, describing the chance to race for Sam Hunt Racing and Toyota as a dream come true.
Team owner Sam Hunt also praised Perkins, pointing to his experience in the series, motivation and desire to continue developing as a driver. The organization hopes to provide him with the resources and support needed to improve his performance on the track.
A Fresh Start After Jordan Anderson Racing
Perkins currently drives the No. 31 Chevrolet for Jordan Anderson Racing, where he has competed for the past two seasons.
His time with the team included four top 10 finishes during the 2025 season, marking a career-best total at the time. Although his 2026 campaign has been more challenging, the move to Sam Hunt Racing offers a fresh opportunity to build momentum.
Perkins has competed in NASCAR’s national series since 2021 and previously raced in the ARCA Menards Series, where he earned three victories in the ARCA Menards Series West during the 2020 season.
Despite his experience, he is still searching for his first victory in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Joining a new organization could provide the foundation he needs to continue progressing.
Sam Hunt Racing Builds for 2027
Perkins will join Sheldon Creed as part of Sam Hunt Racing’s announced driver lineup for 2027. Creed is set to drive the team’s No. 26 Toyota, giving the organization two experienced drivers as it prepares for the upcoming season.
For Perkins, the multiyear agreement provides stability and a chance to establish himself with a new team. His focus now remains on finishing the 2026 season with Jordan Anderson Racing before beginning the next chapter of his career.
The move represents an important opportunity for Perkins, who will look to turn years of experience into stronger results and, ultimately, his first career series victory.
