The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Kano State Chapter, has appointed a three-member interim leadership team to oversee its affairs following the resignation of its chairman, Dr Goni Faruk Umar.
According to the state Public Relations Officer of the forum in Kano, Nasiru Yusuf Ibrahim, the development comes amid efforts to restore unity and resolve internal disagreements that had affected the smooth running of the forum.
He said the interim team comprises the District Head of Tofa, Alhaji Isyaku Umar Tofa; Ambassador Bala Mohammed Sani and Hajiya Rabia Husaini Adamu.
The appointments were announced on Saturday by retired General Haliru Akilu during a joint meeting of members of the ACF Board of Trustees representing Kano State and the chapter’s executive committee held at the Late Amina Habib ACF Secretariat in Kano.

Akilu said the three members would lead the chapter for the remainder of the current executive committee’s tenure pending the election of a substantive chairman.
He said the decision was taken to promote reconciliation, restore understanding and strengthen cooperation among members following differences that had affected the chapter’s operations.
“The spirit that should guide every one of us is the same: consultation before decision, integrity before convenience and service before self,” Akilu said.
He urged members to set aside their differences and work collectively in the interest of the forum, stressing that the meeting was aimed at resolving outstanding issues rather than revisiting past controversies.
Akilu also confirmed receipt of the resignation letter of Umar, who cited the demands of his busy schedule for stepping down.
He commended the former chairman for his service and contribution to the forum, expressing hope that he would continue to offer advice and support to the chapter.
The retired general also praised Assistant Controller-General of Narcotics, Alhaji Abubakar Idris Ahmed, for serving as acting chairman for about four months during Umar’s absence, saying his efforts helped sustain the chapter’s activities.
In their separate remarks, the newly appointed interim leaders thanked members for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to work toward restoring unity, confidence and effective administration of the chapter until a new chairman is elected.
Akilu said a united ACF Kano chapter would be better positioned to contribute to tackling challenges facing Kano State and Northern Nigeria, including insecurity, poverty, education and youth empowerment.
