Due to the ongoing renovation work, the self baggage drop facility at the Kempegowda International Airport’s (KIA) Terminal-1 is currently not operational.
The airport officials said the renovation work started on October 8, and the self baggage drop facility, which is an automated baggage handling system, is currently not operational.
Passengers said that with this facility, which is meant to speed up the baggage check-in process significantly, not in service, the overall time to complete the check in process has increased. They pointed out the added festive rush has also meant they have to spend additional time.
The automated devices weigh the baggage and print the baggage tag upon scanning the boarding pass, and passengers can then attach the tags to their luggage and check it in immediately.
The officials said that the services would be restored as soon as the renovation work was completed.
