Thanks to commercials starring actor (and former part-owner) Ryan Reynolds, Mint Mobile has become one of the most popular mobile carriers. According to J.D. Power, Mint ranks highest in overall customer satisfaction among wireless carriers. Its prepaid cell phone plans, with no contracts or early termination fees, appeal to many customers, especially those with basic needs. Mint operates on parent company T-Mobile’s network, which has the best 5G coverage among the big three operators. You can bring your own unlocked, compatible device, or purchase a new phone from Mint, including the latest Google Pixel 11, Apple iPhone 18 Pro, or Samsung Galaxy S26 FE.
Mint doesn’t always offer extra discounts in the form of codes or coupons, but its low-cost plans with minimal monthly commitment appeal to groups that need budget phone service, such as seniors on a fixed income or young adults transitioning off their parents’ service. However, it runs promotions that are automatically applied at checkout. Right now, Mint is running an anniversary special that gives you up to 71% off its six-month plans. We like that Mint Mobile makes its plans easy to understand, thanks to a nutritional-value-style breakdown of pricing and fees. If you’ve been looking to switch carriers and have your eye on Mint, you should definitely consider these Mint Mobile promos when you decide.
Mint Mobile Savings for Seniors: 6 GB for $15 a Month or 50% off 6-Month Plan
While Mint Mobile doesn’t offer a specific discount for customers age 55 and older, its low-cost standard plans should appeal to anyone on a budget or who simply wants to pay less for phone service. For seniors who don’t need much data per month, the 6-GB plan is plenty for casual browsing, streaming, app downloads, and emailing. Plus, it includes unlimited talk and texting, which may be more valuable to this age group than doomscrolling on social media.
The 6-GB plan costs $15 a month for three months, plus taxes and fees. Mint plans never require a contract, but you must pay the full $45 upfront. The plan renews for another three months, but the price increases to $25 a month, so it’s $75 plus taxes and fees. It’s still affordable compared with legacy carriers. You don’t have to deal with monthly charges, and there’s no commitment after the three-month term if you wish to cancel. You can switch to a different plan for potential greater savings. Note that Mint doesn’t refund unused months if you cancel outside the seven-day cancellation period (seven days after activation).
To save more, and if their budgets allow, seniors should consider Mint Mobile’s longer-term plans. While they cost more upfront, they save more in the long run. For example, Mint Mobile is currently running an anniversary special on its six-month plans. Seniors can lock in the 6-GB, 17-GB, 23-GB, or unlimited plan for $10 a month for six months. Afterward, the price increases to only $20 a month if you renew the 6-GB plan for another six months, or you can switch to a 3- or 12-month plan. Note the varying upfront costs required.
For the best savings, consider the 12-month plan. It has a higher upfront fee of $180, but it breaks down to $15 a month. Unlike the three-month plan, it stays at $15 after it renews (subject to potential price increases, which are very possible given the nature of subscription services). You pay more at first, but you save even more over time.
Perhaps the best feature for seniors is Mint Mobile’s customer service, staffed by live agents by phone during select hours or available 24/7 via online chat. While many companies are increasingly moving toward AI-based systems, having humans who can help guide customers through issues is refreshing.
Mint Kids: Mobile Discounts for Children
Like seniors, Mint Mobile doesn’t offer plans or discounts for kids. Instead, parents can choose a low-cost option that fits their children’s mobile habits. If they rely mostly on Wi-Fi at home, school, or the library, they may not need a high-data plan. If they binge on streaming entertainment and are constantly on social media, Mint offers 17 GB, 23 GB, or unlimited data plans at $20, $25, or $30 per month.
As mentioned above, the different monthly terms (3, 6, and 12 months) require different upfront payments, and prices may also increase after the initial entry price. The best approach is for parents to determine their child’s needs, then browse Mint’s plans that fit their budget. It can get costly as you move up in data and monthly tiers, plus the higher upfront costs, but parents could still save money in the long run compared with a legacy carrier, and without a contract. If additional children also need a phone plan, parents should look at family plans offered by other service providers. Mint Mobile doesn’t offer a traditional family plan, but you can sign up for multiple plans and mix and match based on your needs. Again, do some price comparison to see if you would actually save money.
Something Mint Mobile doesn’t offer is a smartwatch plan. Instead of phones, a popular trend is for parents to give their kids a cellular-enabled Apple Watch. So if this is what you’re looking for, sadly, Mint Mobile won’t work for this purpose.
Bundle Your Home Broadband and Phone Plan With This Mint Mobile Promo
Mint offers home internet from its parent, T-Mobile. Like its phone plans, Mint offers Home Minternet packages in 3-, 6-, or 12-month terms, each with an upfront payment. Prices start at $40 per month for a three-month term ($120 upfront).
Right now, Mint Mobile is offering a 12-month plan for $45 per month ($540 upfront) that bundles 12 months of unlimited data—a $300 savings compared with buying both separately. Since home internet can easily cost double what Mint charges, this could be a significant cost-saver for those with modest internet needs that T-Mobile’s 5G network can handle.
What to Do if Your Mint Mobile Promo Code Is Not Working
Mint Mobile keeps its offerings easy to understand, whether you're looking at standard pricing or promotions. With its transparent pricing model, Mint Mobile doesn’t usually require codes. Any listed promotion should automatically apply at checkout. Just make sure you note the total, including any fees and taxes, before you place an order.
If you are unsure, Mint offers live, human customer service via phone (limited hours) or online (24/7).
