(ANSA) - ROMA, 20 OTT - With the opening of an exhibition dedicated to some of the leading Italian writers of the 20th century—whose work has helped shape Italian literature in recent decades—the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World, organized by the Italian Embassy in Moldova, began in Chișinău at the National Library. The theme of this edition is “Brilliant Language: Conceiving, Designing, and Creating with Italian”—an invitation to view Italian not only as a vehicle for an extraordinarily rich historical heritage but also as a language capable of stimulating creativity in all fields and dimensions. A language that, through literature, art, science, and knowledge, continues to offer new possibilities for expression and to foster dialogue and relations between cultures and peoples.
The Week’s opening ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, Dan Suruceanu, the Deputy Secretary General for Education, Ludmila Pavlov, the Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Maria Perricone, as well as representatives from the cultural and academic worlds, Italian studies scholars, Italian language teachers, and students. On this occasion, Ambassador Perricone conferred upon Professor Lidia Cazacu the Order of the Star of Italy, in recognition of her long and steadfast commitment to promoting the Italian language and culture.
The award ceremony represents an important opportunity to highlight the contribution of those who, through their educational and cultural activities, foster bonds of friendship, dialogue, and collaboration between Italy and Moldova.
