The Eagles’ injury problems continued Sunday against Jacksonville, with four more players leaving a lineup already missing several starters.
Running back Will Shipley, defensive back Michael Carter II, outside linebacker Jalyx Hunt and right guard Tyler Steen exited the game in London, leaving Philadelphia facing the possibility of finishing without all four. The Eagles ruled Carter out with an abdominal injury and listed Hunt (ankle/knee) and Steen (shoulder) as questionable to return. Shipley was previously listed as questionable with a foot injury.
Shipley started for Saquon Barkley and scored Philadelphia’s first touchdown on a 2-yard run in the second quarter. He finished the first half with five carries for six yards and one reception for seven yards before heading to the locker room. With Barkley sidelined by a hamstring injury and Tank Bigsby on injured reserve, Shipley’s exit left Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele to handle the backfield.
Hunt recorded three solo tackles before he was injured on Philadelphia’s fourth-down stop on the final play of the first half. The team helped him off the field, further thinning an edge rotation already missing Jonathan Greenard, who was inactive with an ankle injury. Nolan Smith, Arnold Ebiketie and A.J. Epenesa were the remaining options.
Carter contributed six first-half tackles, including two solo stops, while helping cover for the absence of safety Marcus Epps. Steen started at right guard on a reshuffled offensive line that kept Jalen Hurts from being sacked in the opening half. His shoulder injury raised concerns for a unit already starting Jake Majors at center with Drew Kendall sidelined.
Philadelphia entered the game without Barkley, Greenard, DeVonta Smith, Hollywood Brown, Kendall, and Epps. Four additional injuries forced the Eagles to dig even deeper into their reserves while trying to protect a 14-7 halftime lead.
