KUALA LUMPUR: Two policemen who were allegedly assaulted by Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 will file a civil suit against him within seven days.
Their lawyer, Kamal Hisham Ja'affar, said the suit would be filed at the Sessions Court in Sepang.
He said the statement of claim was being finalised before filing.
"The civil suit will be filed against Shuhaily in his personal capacity. The government will not be named as a defendant," he said when contacted today.
Kamal Hisham said the amount of damages sought by each policeman had yet to be determined as they were still awaiting medical reports.
"We will be able to estimate the amount of damages once we receive the medical reports," he said.
He said the reports were necessary to assess the appropriate compensation based on the injuries allegedly sustained by the two policemen.
Yesterday, Shuhaily pleaded not guilty at the magistrate's court in Sepang to two charges of voluntarily causing hurt to the policemen.
A video of the incident had earlier gone viral on social media, showing Shuhaily reprimanding two men and pulling one of them by the ear.
