In Week 1, the Los Angeles Rams’ most anticipated player to watch, Myles Garrett, reaggravated his left knee, and he has missed five games since. Unfortunately, the Rams have suffered major roster setbacks as more players have fallen to injury week by week, making the latest update on Garrett disheartening.
According to Michael J. Duarte of The California Post, Garrett’s 21-day clock to return to the active roster will not begin this week, and he will miss Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
“Myles Garrett’s clock WILL NOT start this upcoming week (Week 7),” Duarte wrote via X.
Garrett has been on injured reserve since Week 1 to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery. Garrett has been eligible to come off of IR, but the Rams have not started his “clock.”
“By NFL rules, once a player is designated to return from IR, the team has a 21-day window to evaluate them in practice,” Thomas Murray of the New York Post wrote. “Therefore, by not starting his clock yet, that window has not opened. Once it does, the Rams will have 21 days to either activate Garrett to the 53-man roster or revert him to season-ending IR.”
Garrett battled the same knee injury before the season began and missed much of training camp.
After a Week 6 loss to Arizona, the Rams lost another essential piece in wide receiver Davante Adams. Adams will miss 6-10 weeks with a ruptured hamstring, leaving the Rams offense as crippled as their defense.
The Rams currently sit 2-4 at the bottom of the NFC West, riddled with injuries. Head coach Sean McVay had “nothing positive” to say after Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals.
“We won’t win a game unless we figure out how not to beat ourselves,” McVay said via The Sporting News. “Just so many unforced errors, so many things that are not in alignment with what we want to do.”
It will be interesting to see whether any more news about Garrett’s injury status comes out, as the Rams need him on the field.
