KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia-Switzerland bilateral trade reached RM13.4 billion in 2025, an increase of 9.8 per cent from the previous year, reflecting continued growth in economic ties between the two countries.
Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said that as of June, 211 manufacturing projects involving Swiss participation had been implemented in Malaysia, attracting RM12.8 billion in investments and creating 19,744 jobs.
He welcomed more quality investments that could strengthen local industries and create high-skilled job opportunities for Malaysians.
"We also discussed the Malaysia-Efta Economic Partnership Agreement (Meepa) and efforts to strengthen investment cooperation.
"I emphasised the importance of implementing Meepa to expand market access and create more opportunities for businesses in both countries, while reaffirming Malaysia's commitment to sustainable industrial development and trade," he said in a Facebook post today.
Johari also shared photographs of his meeting with Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs Helene Budliger Artieda, who paid him a courtesy call at his office here.
He said the meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen trade and investment cooperation, particularly in advanced manufacturing, precision engineering and medical technology.
