It feels like we've been ruminating on who will play the next James Bond for about 50 years, but rumour has it Amazon Studios is actually running the final screen tests next week – and they've whittled it down to four actors.
Insiders told Deadline that three of the four actors expected to test next week are Jack Lowden of Slow Horses fame, Dua Lipa's husband Callum Turner (yes, he's also an esteemed actor in his own right) and internet boyfriend Josh O'Connor. (Amazon MGM has not confirmed the news).
Don't get too excited though, because there is still no official timeline for when the final decision will be made, or when the news will be announced to the wider world, let alone for when they will begin filming.
Even so, fans are excited to see Jack Lowden formally (ish) in the running. Here are his past roles that prove he is a worthy 007.
Slow Horses

Jack is best known for his role as River Cartright in the Apple TV crime series Slow Horses. He received nominations for two Emmys and a Golden Globe for his performance – and proved he knows how to wear a suit.
As a young, ambitious MI5 agent, Jack gained plenty of Bond-adjacent experience on the set of this show. He knows how to sprint, dodge bullets and avoid nearby explosions. All he needs to learn now is how to neck a martini.
Chariots of Fire

Speaking of being on the run, Jack played Olympic athlete Eric Liddell in the 2012 West End stage production of Chariots of Fire. In this play, he proved he has main character energy and that he has great stamina: two essential 007 traits.
'71

Starring opposite a former contender for Bond, Jack O'Connell, the Scottish actor played the supporting role of Thommo in the 2014 thriller '71.
While Bond is used to fighting crime in fairly glamorous settings, let's be honest, Jack gained invaluable experience simulating a war zone as a young British soldier separated from his unit during a riot in Belfast.
Dunkirk

Another military role for Jack came in the form of Collins, a British Royal Air Force pilot, in Christopher Nolan's 2017 film, Dunkirk. At this point, it's clear that Jack has a thing for intense environments (and film sets) and loves projects that cater to the male gaze. Surely, playing James Bond is on his bucket list?
Fighting with My Family

The final test for a potential James Bond: the hunk factor. In Fighting with My Family, a biographical sports comedy-drama written and directed by Stephen Merchant, Jack played the brother of professional wrestler Paige (Florence Pugh) called Zak Zodiac. His top was off – and the fans were happy.
