There is still time to preorder Grand Theft Auto VI before the highly-anticipated game's release in a few weeks, and in case you're wary of ponying up for a preorder with the holiday shopping season right around the corner—a time when discounts are the norm—this is a good time to remind everyone of Amazon's preorder price guarantee for physical items and digital games.
"Whenever you preorder a physical item displaying the 'Preorder Price Guarantee' message on the product detail page, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date," Amazon states.
The same general policy applies to digital games and software downloads, as well as Kindle books and Amazon Music tracks.
All that said, it's highly unlikely we'll see a Black Friday or Cyber Monday discount on GTA VI, given that the release comes barely a week before holiday sales begin in earnest, as well as the massive hype surrounding one of the most popular game releases of all time. If you're worried about it all the same, however, preorder guarantees offer a bit of peace of mind.
It's not just Amazon, either. Best Buy also has a similar guarantee. In an FAQ on the topic, one of the questions asks if Best Buy can ensure the price listed at the time of the preorder will remain the same.
"Yes and no. When a price is assigned to a preordered item, we are reasonably certain it will remain at that price. However, from time to time — given how far in advance we make items available to our customers — a price change will occur. If this happens, you will always receive the lower of the two prices," Best Buy explains.
"For example, if you order an item for $49.99 and the preorder price is later dropped to $39.99, you will be charged only $39.99. If you ordered the item at $49.99 and the price rises to $59.99, you still pay only $49.99. When you place a preorder, you are assured our lowest prerelease price," Best Buy continues.

A few things to note here. For one, the so-called physical editions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X do not actually contain a disc. Instead, you're paying for a game box with a download code inside.
Secondly, shipments will begin on November 12. This is one of the benefits of preorder—you can secure your copy ahead of the game's November 19 release date and ensure it's ready to go. Other preorder benefits include a Vintage Vice City pack with special skins, and a one-month GTA+ subscription.
Finally, if you want the Ultimate Edition with more goodies piled on, you will need to preorder through Microsoft or Sony. Note that the Ultimate Edition is not offered as a physical box (though you can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition).
As for the soundtrack on vinyl, both Amazon and Best Buy offer exclusive versions that differ slightly from one another. Each one has its own graphics, as well as a unique 12x24 poster. Of course, you need a turntable to play vinyl, such as this Audio-Technica AT-LPGF-BT, a Bluetooth model that's on sale for $199 at Amazon.
