WASHINGTON, October 17. /TASS/. New White House press secretary Katie Zacharia has held the position for only five days, breaking the anti-record set in 2017 by former US administration communications director Anthony Scaramucci.
President Donald Trump said Zacharia would take office on October 12. On October 13, Zacharia answered three questions at her first press briefing, which lasted a total of 14 minutes. MS Now quoted sources in the US administration as saying that the White House was so dissatisfied with her debut that it effectively threatened to fire her.
On October 16, Trump said that he had recommended that Zacharia resign, while Fox News reported live, citing a White House official that she was leaving her position.
Scaramucci was fired in July 2017 ten days after appointment.
According to Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy, Trump told him over the phone that he was in no hurry to appoint a new spokesperson. The journalist added that, according to the president, the head of the American administration does not have a shortlist of candidates for this position, although he is receiving proposals.
